Euphoria is Disgusting
Euphoria: a social commentary or just straight fetish content?
Sam Levinson, the sick fuck you are.
If you’re like me, you sat down last night eager for the long-awaited release of Euphoria season 3 episode one, and were then bombarded with fetish content.
This season has strayed far from the source material of Petra Collins’ photography and into a sick and disgusting Sam Levinson fantasy.
To start off, who is Sam Levinson?
He is the writer/director/creator, otherwise known as sick fuck/creep/plagiarist of Euphoria, who stole the talented Petra Collins’ work. And in this season, he made the show a shell of what it used to be. Objectifying the female cast and pushing straight fetish content onto just about every TV screen in America.
But I ask you, is this surprising or a long time in the making?
If you look at Levinson’s portfolio of projects, you will see this is EXACTLY his style and this is hardly any shock. We’ll start with his 2018 film Assassination Nation, which is scarily similar in content to season one of Euphoria.
The film is about a group of high school girls having their deepest secrets revealed. Commence high school girls being the victims of violence and SA, sound familiar? Because without the cool soundtrack and pretty cinematography, that’s what Euphoria is: a story about violence towards the predominantly female cast.
One of the bigger plotlines in Assassination Nation depicts an underage female character being SA’d and having photos taken against her consent. Where a very tall and intimidating male actor (Bill Skarsgård’s character) commits acts of violence towards her and the rest of the female cast.
Now let’s take a look at Euphoria, the character of Nate Jacobs, portrayed by the 6’4 muscular Jacob Elordi, commits acts of violence to the female cast.
Or in the Idol where the Weekend grooms and commits acts of violence towards the female protagonist (Lily Rose Depp’s character).
Now that we have taken a look at some of his portfolio and have these patterns in mind. Why does a middle-aged man want to write all of his projects about female characters getting assaulted and performing humiliation rituals? Oh, right, this man is a creep.
In Euphoria season one, the show would pass off these storylines as “empowerment,” like Kat being an underage cam girl, hence helping her body image, DUH! Cause that makes sense.
And now fast forward to season 3, where this is by far the grossest and most obvious season to spot Sam Levinson’s true intentions.
Not even fifteen minutes in and we get a gag off between Rue and Faye as they swallow fentanyl balloons. This sequence is disgusting, unnecessary, and just disrespectful. Chole Cherry takes the brunt of this fetishization. While Zendaya’s performance is significantly more tame. I can’t help but wonder if this is because Zendaya knows to protect herself from Sam Levinson. The stark difference in performance is telling. I’m sure she has contracts in place to defend against things of this nature. If there were no protections in place for these actresses, I’m positive that the show would have no limit to the disturbing content. Promptly after this sequence, a dog licks shit of Faye. Absolutely disgusting and absolutely fetish content.
A few moments later, Cassie is dressed as a dog licking out of a water bowl. Mind you, the characters that aren’t portrayed like this have significantly less screen time in the episode. Alexa Demi was on screen for six minutes, Maude Apatow coming in at about the same. Most of the episode was devoted to Cassie’s OF storyline or Rue’s drug mule/strip club storyline. Who is getting pleasure out of this, Sam Levinson? Why humiliate the female cast like this?
What I will leave you with for now is this: Why aren’t the male characters subjected to this? Nate Jacobs doesn’t need to gag golf balls or pretend to be a doggy. No, he’s allegedly going to have a redemptive character arc this season. PERFECT! Same with Cal, after all the atrocities their characters got away with in the last two seasons, raping girls, choking them, cheating, lying, and just being some of the worst characters on modern television.
Sam Levinson needs to be held accountable for these depictions, they are not only damaging, but exploitive and horrific. I would have loved to see Petra Collin’s take on Euphoria. It is just awful that Sam Levinson stole the work she was developing, creating a sick fantasy for himself.
I have more thoughts on Euphoria and Sam Levinson. Let me know what you think of Sunday’s episode….

saw this as soon as i started euphoria and this is making me question whether i should watch it or not
